So here I am, sitting on the terrace of my school in between classes listening to Deeper Conversation by Yuna and I'm in paradise. A wave of serenity and recognition comes over me. I'm in Rome, and so extremely blessed to be here. I'm so thankful for everyone in my life who helped make this possible and I'm sorry for not blogging more.
I walk around this enormous city and i'm engulfed by the history of centuries that is directly under my feet. I walked past the terrace that Mussolini used to give his speeches off of. I walked on the same ground that so many Nazi's march through praising Hitler. I get to photograph famous monuments on a daily basis. It's all too overwhelming to really grasp so the only way I can explain it is serendipity. Don't worry I'm not about to break out into poetry and get all sappy. But I do have this for you:
"It is easy to touch up your outward appearance, to look as if you have it all together. Your attempts to look good can fool most people. But I see straight through you, into the depths of your being."
From the fabulous daily devotional my mother has given me to read, Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence by Sarah Young.
Powerful. Be true to yourself, that's how it all begins. Get rid of the masks that cover your true self.
Okay, I'm sorry... I got a little sappy there at the end. Anyway I'm enjoying my adventure and taking full advantage of it! With all the searching and planning i've been doing for weekend trips I could probably change my major to travel agent. My roommates and I have booked three trips in total.
-The first weekend is Stockholm, Sweden
-Second weekend is Frankfurt, Germany
-Fourth weekend is the start of Spring Break!!
1st: Manchester, England 3 nights
2nd: Brussels, Belgium 4 nights
3rd: Dublin Ireland 3 nights
I want to plan a trip to Paris and also a trip to Switzerland but we will see how much money and time I have :)
Until next time,
Emily :)
